Here are three red flags that will tell you immediately if the dealer is working for you or just for themselves.

THEY ASK FOR A CREDIT APPLICATION

You never have to provide any information to get a quote on a car. That includes a credit application.

THEY DON’T WANT YOU TO GET AN INDEPENDENT INSPECTION FOR A USED CAR

If you’re buying used, it’s totally reasonable for you to take that car for an independent inspection.

THEY GIVE YOU A DIFFERENT PRICE THAN YOU SAW BEFORE YOU CAME INTO THE DEALERSHIP

Be wary of bait and switch pricing. Some dealers promise a too-good-to-be-true price to get you in the door and then switch it when it’s time to sign.
